Mücke Motorsport with Formula 3 Euro Series victory and third place in Valencia
Berlin team Mücke Motorsport can look back at a successful Formula 3 Euo Series racing weekend (28th to 30th September), when races 19 to 21 took place in the Spanish Valencia. From the second last event of the junior series and the ninth weekend of the FIA European Championships, the German Capital’s racing team took home a victory by Swede Felix Rosenqvist on Sunday and a third place by Pascal Wehrlein (Worndorf/both Dallara Mercedes) on Saturday.
The top of the rookie league, sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation and the Deutsche Post Speed academy, also retained his chances for the Formula 3 Euro Series title with a fourth place on Sunday and a fifth on Saturday morning. With the finals coming up in Hockenheim from 19th to 21st October in Hockenheim, Wehrlein is now a mere 35 points behind the current overall lead, with a total of 60 points still to be allocated. Rosenqvist, 13th and eighth on Saturday currently ranks fifth, putting him within reach of the third overall place.
Lining up second, the Swede delieverd a fantastic start on Sunday, took over the lead and held onto it all the way through to the finishing line. On the way to his second win of the season, he scored the fastest race lap, putting last year’s lap record into the shade by a staggering 2 seconds. The 20 year old had secured the lead in Saturday morning’s race, also at the start but had to complete a drive through penalty due to non conformity with start positioning. Later on in the race, Rosenqvist caught up from the rear, had arrived at eighth place but collided on route to seventh place, leaving him with another penalty. Finishing up as 13th, the afternoon’s race 20 saw him furiously working his way to the front from starting position 20 to an eighth place.
Pascal Wehrlein, after sliding off track in his fast lap of the qualifying, missed out on better starting positions butimproved on Saturday morning from starting place eight to fifth, finishing the afternoon race on the podium, having achieved third place from starting position four. Sunday saw the 17 year old improve by one place again. „Felix and Pascal, as well as the entire team, delivered a great performance this weekend, taking into consideration that we had the capability to win each and every race. Every single details has to be perfect for such an achievement“, so team manager Peter Mücke. „Felix underlined again the fact that he is a winning driver. And rookie Pascal has so far performed remarkably well in the second half of the season.“
