The German Team Mücke Motorsport from Berlin finished their second appearance at the Macau Grand Prix of the Formula 3 in China with a very good result. For the first time, a driver of the racing stable from the German capital city has been on the podium at the season finale of the 30 best drivers of the Formula 3 in the world. The Swede Felix Rosenqvist finished on position two on Sunday (18th of November) in the race over 15 laps on the 6.12 kilometres long city course in the former Portuguese colony. His team colleague Pascal Wehrlein, who missed the win just curtly on position four, complemented the great result of the Mücke racing stable. The Australian Mitchell Gilbert (all Dallara Mercedes), who was contracted for 2013 by the Berlin Team for the Formula 3 and took part for the first time in Macau like Wehrlein, finished the race on position 18. Winner of this race has been the Portuguese Antonio Felix da Costa with about 1.5 seconds ahead Rosenqvist.

„The guys and the whole team really showed a great performance in the races as well as the three days before in Macau. And according to performance and speed we also were in top condition on Sunday, as the third and fourth best lap times of Felix and Pascal with only minimal lags to the best time showed“, team principal Peter Mücke said, who sees the good results also as a present for his upcoming 66th birthday (21st of November). „This has been the high point of a great season 2012 at the Formula 3.“ Rosenqvist and Wehrlein, who is supported by the ADAC Stiftung Sport and Deutsche Post Speed Academy, have been the best drivers of the Formula 3 Euro Series in Macau same time.

Felix Rosenqvist, who finished third at the FIA Formula 3 European Championship and fourth at the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2012, took part for the third time in Macau and started the race from position two. Like he did in the Qualifying race on Saturday (17th of November), he took the lead again right after the start, but then he had to leave Costa and Alex Lynn through. Certainly the 21 year old could overtake the British later on. „It has been a close race. It is sad that I missed the aimed for win just curtly“, Rosenqvist said.

Pascal Wehrlein, vice champion and rookie champion of the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2012 as well as fourth at the European Championship, started into the race from position seven and could make up three positions. „The fourth position is not too bad for me as a rookie. I could raise my performance day by day“, the 18 year old said, who had a very good start as well. And the 17 year old novice of Mücke Motorsport, Mitchell Gilbert, who was overall fourth at the German Formula 3 Cup last season, improved his starting position on 20 about two ranks.

After the official award ceremony including a great firework display, the whole Mücke team celebrated the ending of a successful season with a big party on Sunday evening. On Monday (19th of November) they will make their way back home. And the next appointments for test drives at the Formula 3 and at the ADAC Formula Masters are already scheduled until a few days before Christmas.
