Everything is ready for the second stop of the 2013 Winter Series by GT Sport. As from Friday, a number of teams of the International GT Open and the European F3 Open will be in Jerez de la Frontera to continue their preparation ahead of the 2013 season and have a second taste of real racing after the inaugural Winter Series event at the Paul Ricard .

The Andalusian track, which seems to have been spared by the cold wave that has clipped  Europe these days, is known for hosting winter testing sessions for the top single-seater formulae (F.1 last week and GP2 at this very moment) and is a new fixture in the International GT Open calendar. The series will visit it in June for its fourth round of the championship, although the Winter Series event this weekend will already mark the official return of international GT racing to the “Circuito de Velocidad” for the first time since the early ‘90s.

The Jerez Winter Series event will follow exactly the same format of the first event at the Paul Ricard two weeks ago. It will be mainly devoted to testing, allowing the teams to get acquainted with the new tires. Five private testing sessions of one hour each are scheduled between Friday and Saturday morning. Still, real competition is also on the program, with two 50-minute races on Saturday, which will be preceded by a 20-minute qualifying session per driver.

The official entry list will be released later in the week but a number of teams are already confirmed. This includes a strong delegation from Kessel Racing and AF Corse, together with entries from AT Racing, Team Ukraine, SMP Russian Bears, Mtech and Drivex, to name a few.
