From Formula 3 to the DTM
He is one of them and has achieved what many aspire. Gary Paffett contests the DTM, and the German Formula 3 was an important career move for the British driver. He won the title in 2002. Things really took off then: after switching to touring cars in 2003, he won the championship in 2005. More than 20 young race drivers from eleven countries will follow in his footsteps this weekend, when the ATS Formula 3 Cup is part of the DTM support programme at Lausitzring.
A debut for the young talents of the ATS Formula 3 Cup! They will be part of the DTM support programme for the first time and will drive this circuit version for the first time, since the GP circuit is only used once a year in this 3.478-km version. The participation of the ATS Formula 3 Cup in the Lausitz is owed to a constructive and uncomplicated collaboration between the ITR e.V., the DMSB and the Formula 3 Association. “The DTM is a serious goal for many of our young drivers,” says Sebastian Wittrisch, Head of Organisation and member of the board of the Formula 3 Association. “We are very happy about bringing them one step closer to their dream and perhaps to their idols.”
“Meet & Greet” with Marvin Kirchhöfer
Marvin Kirchhöfer is a big role model for the ATS Formula 3 Cup already. The rookie from Leipzig is currently in the lead of the championship and a real challenge for his competitors. Fans will have a chance to meet the exceptional talent on Sunday. They can win a “Meet & Greet” with the popular driver. More information will be available in the print version of the Dresdner Morgenpost on Tuesday.
Favourite track Lausitzring
More than twenty drivers will compete for the fastest lap time at the 3.478-km track and enjoy the unique circuit. The Lausitzring is the favourite track of Sebastian Balthasar from Cologne: “I really like the layout and the atmosphere at Lausitzring, the many fast turns and the characteristics of the track make it unique, especially in combination with the oval.” If the GU-Racing driver wins a place on the podium again, he will most likely receive the trophy from Alexander Bittroff. The FC Energie Cottbus football player is already looking forward to the event.
