After a six-week pit stop the racing series will start into the second half of the season at the ADAC GT Masters weekend at Nürburgring. The more than twenty young drivers are already familiar with the track in the Eifel, since the ATS Formula 3 Cup was part of the ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race back in May. However, the track including the short layout is different and has a total length of 3.629km. It will be exciting to see how the leaders of the Trophy ranking, local favourite Sebastian Balthasar from Cologne, and the leader of the Cup ranking and overall standings, Marvin Kirchhöfer from Leipzig, will handle it.

Many of the young talents contesting the ATS Formula 3 Cup used the summer break for relaxing and took some time off. Nobody was bored though. Briton Emil Bernstorff, for example, competed at the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort, claiming an impressive third place. Performance Racing and GU-Racing did a few test sessions; and driver Yannick Mettler demonstrated his skills at the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy for three days. It remains to be seen if the Swiss will be selected. Some drivers were busy with the ATS Formula 3 Cup. Several of them worked on their ideas for the Ravenol Media Award. And Jan Schwitter answered the questions of the fans during the ATS Formula 3 Cup INSIDE event on Facebook.

Championship title in sight
The young talents will finally practice for the general qualification for motorsports, the ATS Formula 3 Cup, again on Friday. The leader in the Cup ranking, rookie Marvin Kirchhöfer from Leipzig, will have a chance to extend his lead and perhaps win the title soon. However, the competition comes from his own ranks. Russian Artem Markelov is 85 points behind him. Sebastian Balthasar from Cologne is the leader in the Trophy ranking, having scored 235 points. Still, the competition is tough. Hubertus-Carlos Vier from Inching is 47 points behind him and Freddy Killensberger from Wortelstetten is another three points behind.

Get close to the drivers

The green lights for the third race will come on at 1.50 p.m. on Sunday. A special treat awaits those who travel to the Eifel.
