The German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport scored a podium placing and five top ten
The German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin scored a third place and five top ten placings at the seventh season event of the FIA Formula 3 European championship this weekend (16th to 18th of August) on the Nürburgring. The overall second Felix Rosenqvist scored the third place in race 19 on the 3.629 km long traditional track in the Eifel on Saturday morning, at the 20th race on Saturday afternoon he finished ninth and on Sunday he finished fifth at the 21st race. The Swede is on second position in the drivers ranking, but the gap to the Italian front runner Raffaele Marciello, who won all three races, increased to 72.5 points. The Mücke rookie Mitchell Gilbert (Australia) finished in the points ranking for the first time on position eight on Sunday and earlier he finished on position 12 and 14. Michael Lewis (USA) also scored points two times on position seven (Saturday morning and Sunday) and on Saturday afternoon he finished on position 11. The Mücke rookie Roy Nissany from Israel (all Dallara Mercedes) didn’t succeed this time. He finished on position 17, had a drop out and finished on position 18 on Sunday.
“Not everything went well this weekend. Felix lost points to the front runner, but the championship still is long and we will attack again“, the team principal Peter Mücke said. „Raffaele Marciello did everything right and reached the maximum, respect for that. Felix achieved that on the Red Bull Ring as well. We will go on to fight for the title.“ A great show certified the owner of the racing stable from the German capital city (second in the team rankings) his rookie Mitchell Gilbert and Michael Lewis. „Both developed very well and were rewarded with points.“ For Roy Nissany it has not been possible to score better positions after the Qualifying where he only got positions at the end of the field. „Certainly, he showed a great performance in the races and scored lap times like the drivers at the front of the field.“
After his third place on Saturday morning, Felix Rosenqvist stalled the engine on starting position two in the afternoon. After that he started a furious catch up race from the end of the field, scored the fastest lap time and finished on position nine in the end. On Sunday he lost positions right after the start and finished on position five. Now the Swede hopes to be able to knot on to his great results he had so far in Zandvoort. Because on this track in the dunes of the North Sea he won the „RTL GP Masters of Formula 3“ for the second time already on the 7th of July (first time in 2011). The eighth season event of the Formula 3 European championship is scheduled from 27th to 29th of September in Netherlands.
