Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport gets to celebrate Double ADAC Formel Masters Champion
Berlin Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport had cause for double title celebrations on Sunday (15th September). At the second to last ADAC Formula Masters season event on the Slovakia Ring near Bratislava, the German Capitol’s racing team, in action for the ADAC Berlin Brandenburg, secured both championship titles in driver and team ratings. Belgian Alessio Picariello who had joined Peter Mücke’s team just before season start, brought home his first title in the high carat junior series with a victory in race 19 on Saturday (14th September) and a runner up place in race 20 the day after. Sunday afternoon’s race 21 also saw him cross the finishing line as first, however a post-race 30 second penalty moved him back to 16th place. “The championship win is an incredible feeling”, the thrilled 20 year old reports.
“The two early title wins are the well deserved award for the hard work and dedication of the whole team and the drivers. I am thrilled for our entire team”, says team manager Peter Mücke who was kept informed of the happenings in Slovakia at all times, while in action with the Mücke Motorsport team at the DTM in Oschersleben. “I was on the phone to our drivers and our Formula ADAC Crew at the Slovakia Ring, discussing the races and of course passed on my congratulations.” The team manager could of course also fully understand Alessio Picariello’s emotional reaction when he stepped on the brakes hard after crossing the finishing line of Sunday afternoon’s race to thank the team at the pit stop. “While I understand his reaction we have to accept the penalty for what caused a dangerous situation. We all need to learn from it” explains Peter Mücke. “Our plans for the ADAC Formula Masters season final in Hockenheim in a couple of weeks include to secure the vice championship title with Maximilian Günther.”
The rookie, sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation and currently runner up in the table had only achieved points in Slovakia with the 21st race which he finished as seventh, having finished the other two races prematurely. Points were also scored by overall eighth Hendrik Grapp (Berlin) as tenth on Sunday afternoon (other results 16th and cancellation) and by Thuringian Kim Luis Schramm as tenth on Saturday (plus a cancellation and eleventh). Swiss Giorgio Maggi, also a Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport rookie, finished in places 13, 14 and 15.
