F.RENAULT 3.5 Free Practice -I.S.R. FOCUSES ON RACE PACE IN LE CASTELELT FRIDAY
I.S.R. enjoyed a day of fruitful work in Le Castellet, where the F.Renault 3.5 championship is holding the 8th round of the championship. On the famed Paul Ricard Circuit, the Czech team tackled the first day of running with just one car: due to a clashing commitment, a demo run with a Sauber F.1 car in Sochi, Sergey Sirotkin was forced to miss both Free Practice sessions. The Russian youngster is going to miss tomorrow’s Qualifying and Race 1 too as he will be traveling from Russia to reach Le Castellet in the evening, and this means that for the first two days Christopher Zanella will be the only driver defending the team’s banner. The Swiss talent eagerly took this responsibility on his shoulders, and today he delivered a very good performance that in the morning saw him close FP1 into the top ten. In the afternoon, I.S.R. chose to work on the car’s race trim and decided not to mount new tyres, saving one more set for tomorrow’s Qualifying. On worn rubber Christopher tested some solution that will prove useful for Race 1, ending the session in P25.
Christopher Zanella: FP1 – P10; FP2 – P25
“Overall it was a good day. In the morning the car already felt good, so for the afternoon we decided to try some race-oriented solutions and not to mount new rubber. That means that we should be really ready for tomorrow’s Race 1, and I’m confident that we can do a really good job. I just hope that on fresh tyres the car will be just as brilliant as it was today on old rubber”.
