Top ten effort for AVF in Le Castellet practice
Trouble-free day for AVF in Le Castellet, where the famed Paul Ricard Circuit is the stage for the 8th event of the F.Renault 3.5 championship. On the french track, the spanish team managed by Adrian Vallés experienced a very positive Friday that saw them collect useful setup data and prepare their cars for tomorrow’s race day. In the morning Free Practice session Arthur Pic and Yann Cunha were among the few drivers that didn’t mount new tyres, hence ending the session in P21 and P24 respectively. In the afternoon, then, the frenchman upped his pace considerably in FP2 and despite missing the chance for a clean lap he finished into the top ten posting the 9th quickest time. Cunha, in the meantime, kept trying different setup solution to find the perfect feeling with the car. Arthur Pic: FP1 – P21; FP2 – P9 “In the morning we lost some time to fix some issue with the car’s steering, but before the end of the session everything was fine and I was able to push and get the right feeling with the car. Then in Free Practice 2 we went for a quick laptime like everybody else, and I’m quite happy with how we performed. P9 isn’t great, but truth be told I did many mistakes in Turn 3, and I never had a clean lap. Putting the best sectors together my laptime would be good for P2, so I feel confident for tomorrow”. Yann Cunha: FP1 – P24; FP2 – P24 “It wasn’t such a good day for me. We’re trying a lot of different solutions on the car since this morning, but changed aren’t making a big difference and I’m still struggling for pace. We still have some time to work on the car tonight and see the result tomorrow, so I hope the situation will improve”.to work on the car tonight and see the result tomorrow, so I hope the situation will improve”.
