AFTER THEIR IMOLA LMS WIN, REBELLION RACING IS AIMING FOR ANOTHER STRONG RESULT AT SILVESTONE
After claiming first and second place in the Le Mans Series 6 Hours of Imola in July, the REBELLION Racing team is aiming for another strong result at the 6 Hours of Silverstone on return from the series’ summer break. The post-holiday 6 Hours of Silverstone is part of both the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (fifth round) and the Le Mans Series (fourth round). REBELLION Racing will face extremely strong opposition at Silverstone with regular ILMC/LMS competitors Audi, Peugeot and the Pescarolo teams along with the return of Aston Martin Racing.
After very good results since the beginning of the season, REBELLION Racing is in strong positions in both series’ Championship tables.
In the Le Mans Series, the team’s Lola-Toyota cars are in a position to potentially win the Manufacturers’ Championship after the 6 Hours of Silverstone event.
The Swiss team is co-leader of the LMS Teams’ Championship and could secure third spot in ILMC Teams’ Championship classification behind the Peugeot and Audi factory teams.
The summer has been a busy time for the team as they have been working on minor improvements to their cars and preparing for further future development of their Toyota powered Lolas. The team also had to modify the cars to comply with the new regulations, which mandate an increase by 5 mm in the thickness of the “plank” which is under the car (it goes now to 25 mm). This new regulation has required the team to increase the ride height and revise some of the mechanical and aerodynamic settings on the car accordingly.
Bart Hayden, REBELLION Racing Team Manager : “We head into the next race at Silverstone with confidence but also realism, this race could put us into a really strong position for the various Championships. We are currently well positioned in both the ILMC and LMS but we will have six hours of extremely tough racing against very strong opposition to get through first. We have confidence in the pace of our cars and our determination will be high for the best possible results to get closer to our targets. We want to win the LMS Teams’ Championship and we are close to that now with just two races to go and in the ILMC we are targeting to be the best placed private team.»
The 1000 km of Silverstone is scheduled to start at 11:35 am on Sunday, September 11th 2011.
