Pic and AVF recover to 7th place in Race 2

AVF 2909

The second race of the Paul Ricard F.Renault 3.5 weekend brought AVF another good result, a brilliant top ten finish by Arthur Pic. After a good qualifying effort that saw the Frenchman post the 9th quickest time in the morning session, the race was even better for Arthur. As he already did yesterday, he was amazingly quick off the line, managing to make up a couple of spots immediately. From then on he started lapping on a very good pace, and while he wasn’t quick enough to challenge for P6 he managed to keep his position with no worries at all. Just in the last few laps, while managing tyre wear, he had some pressure from fellow racer Will Buller, but Pic coped with that with no issues, taking the flag in 7th place. Yann Cunha, in the team’s other car, had a difficult Qualifying session that saw him close in P26, and starting from Row 13 his race wasn’t meant to be easy. His start was quite good, but on lap 3 he clashed with Daniil Move while fighting for position, and had to retire from the race. Arthur Pic: Q2 – P9; R2 – P7 “Again my start was a very good one, but despite that the race was still very tough. In order to try and make some ground on the straights we opted for a medium downforce setup, but that made our car a bit slow in the twisty part of the track and gave us some tyre wear issues late into the race. That’s why Buller managed to catch up, but I kept him at bay quite easily”. Yann Cunha: Q2 – P26; R2 – DNF “Sure I didn’t have the weekend I was hoping for. I didn’t really find the feeling with this track, and starting from the back I knew that I was heading for a tough race. The crash with Move was unfortunate, but it was just a race incident”.
