Felix Rosenqvist of the Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport with maximum points in Zandvoort
Two wins, one second place, but in the end a maximum points score of 75 – that is the way of Felix Rosenqvist from Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin showing his ambitions to score the title at the third last season event of the Formula 3 European Championship last weekend (27th to 29th of September) in Zandvoort (Netherlands). On his most favourite track in the dunes of the North Sea – the Swede won the Masters of Formula 3 in 2011 and 2013 on this track – he reduced the gap to the leading Raffaele Marciello (Italy/both Dallara Mercedes) from 72.5 to 9.5 points.
„That’s been a great weekend for me. Thanks to the whole team and the great teamwork“, Felix Rosenqvist said, who won the races 23 and 24 starting from pole position. In run 22 on Saturday morning he started from position three and finished on position two behind Daniil Kvyat (Russia/Dallara Volkswagen), who is not eligible to score points, and got 25 points for that. Besides two pole positions the Swede Mücke pilot scored the fastest lap times in the runs 23 and 24.
„That’s been a faultless performance of Felix. He scored everything that was possible in Zandvoort and made the championship even more interesting “, team principal Peter Mücke said. „It is going to be a question of nerves at the last two racing weekends of the Formula 3 European Championship in Vallelunga and Hockenheim.“ The owner of the racing stable from the German capital city was satisfied with his three other drivers as well. „The guys did a good job and were able to score top ten positions again, or positions near the top ten.“
The Australian Rookie Mitchell Gilbert finished 12th in the first race and after that he crossed the finish line on position nine and ten on the 4.307 km long track. And he was in the points ranking for the second and third time this season. The US American Michael Lewis and the Israeli Roy Nissany (all Dallara Mercedes) missed the top ten placings. Lewis discarded in the first race and after that he finished two times on position 13. Nissany finished on position 15, 14 and 12.
The second to last season event of the Formula 3 European Championship is scheduled from 11th to 13th of October in Vallelunga (Italy). The final event is scheduled just one week later from 18th to 20th of October on the Hockenheimring.
