Originally, Simon Pagenaud was not down to drive in the Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone. He was called in to replace Anthony Davidson (not fully recovered from his injuries) alongside Sébastien Bourdais. The Frenchman made a big impact, and on his first outing on a circuit he didn‘t know before this weekend, he was the quickest man on the track today, Saturday.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling! The car’s got a lot of aerodynamic grip. What you experience on board the 908 in the series of quick corners like Becketts and Copse is simply incredible. I really like this track, and above all driving the 908 on it. It’s going to become one of my favourites!”

To top the time sheets it was necessary to know how to read the weather correctly. “The team sent me out on track at just the right time with the right tyres, and that meant I grabbed pole position. Obviously, I am very pleased, even though of course it’s not the most important part of the weekend. The most important part comes tomorrow. We must finish the race and ensure both cars are well placed.“
