ATS Formula 3 Cup driver to contest at Macau
19-year-old Swede John Bryant-Meisner will take part in the 2013 edition of the prestigious Macau Grand Prix the upcoming weekend, the blue-riband event on the international Formula 3 calendar. Bryant-Meisner will make his debut in the Chinese classic – traditionally held on the streets of the gambling metropolis in November of each year – with British outfit Fortec Motorsports, extending his association with the team following two successful FIA Formula 3 European Championship appearances in October and a fifth place in overall championship of ATS Formula 3 Cup 2013.
Bryant-Meisner will be joined on Fortec Motorsports’ five-car Macau line-up by Britons Will Buller and Tom Blomqvist, Brazil’s Pipo Derani and Anglo/UAE racer Ed Jones. “I have heard so many stories about racing at Macau, and to actually go there myself this year is a bit of a dream come true,” says John Bryant-Meisner. “I really can’t wait to get out on track, but – having said that – I’m very much aware that I will have to take things step by step. I have never raced on a street circuit before, and Macau is probably the most difficult place to learn the ropes; there will be no room for error, and the walls are extremely close. It will be the greatest challenge so far of my career, but I will be fortunate enough to lean on the experience of Fortec Motorsports – who traditionally have a strong car at Macau. I will go there in a very realistic frame of mind and simply aim to learn as much as possible, and hopefully I can do a solid job.”
German Formula 3 drivers to participate
The Macau Grand Prix is widely regarded as one of the most important events on the global junior single-seater arena, pitching the planet’s brightest driving talents against each other in an end-of-season world finale. The 2013 edition will feature a total of 28 drivers from throughout 17 different countries, with all of the top F3 regulars and title winners joined by frontrunners from the ranks of GP3, GP2 and World Series by Renault to set up an ultimate battle for supremacy. Among them will be numerous former contestants of the ATS Formula 3 Cup, including Lucas Auer, Felix Rosenqvist, Dennis van de Laar and Tom Blomqvist. Several drivers from the German Formula 3 even scored top podium positions in Macau: John Nielsen, Rickard Rydell, Jörg Müller, Sascha Maaßen, Andre Conto and exceptional driver Michael Schumacher.
