AVF experienced another trouble-free day of running in Alcaniz, were the F.Renault 3.5 championship held session 3 and 4 of a three-day post season test. On the Motorland Aragon track the Spanish team was happy to welcome European F3 graduate William Buller and Frenchman Andrea Pizzitola, coming straight from the F.Renault 2.0 Eurocup. Under gray skies and with track temperatures that were just a tad warmer than yesterday, both drivers did a very good job carrying out two different programmes. Being a complete newcomer to the category Pizzitola focused on finding the right feeling with the car and its reactions, without aiming for quick laptimes. Following the technical staff’s advices Andrea did a very good job, avoiding mistakes and improving his pace lap after lap. As a proof of an increasing confidence with the Michelin-shod Dallara, Pizzitola’s afternoon laptime was seven tenths quicker than the morning one, one of the biggest improvements in the field. Having already contested some F.Renault 3.5 rounds throughout the season Buller didn’t need any learning time and was able to push straight out of the box. In the morning he was 4th quickest with 1’40″623, and in the afternoon he did even better with 1’40″157 despite experiencing some differential issues. Will’s job and pace were very much appreciated by the team’s engineers, and the Brit praised AVF for giving him such a quick car. The team is now ready to tackle the third and final day of testing with Russian talent Nikolay Martsenko and once again Andrea Pizzitola. Adrian Valles – Team Principal “We’re quite satisfied of our performances today. Will was really quick all day long, and he provided some very good feedback on the different setup solutions we tried. He could have been even a bit quicker in the afternoon without a differential glitch, but all in all it was a very positive day. Same goes for Andrea: coming from a less powerful car like the FR2.0 is never easy, but he coped with a bigger car really well, struggling just a bit with fatigue in the final part of the day. We have another day to work together, and we’re sure that he’ll keep improving”.
