F.RENAULT 3.5 – AVF closes the seasons with good performances and a crash
The final day of running of the 2013 F.Renault 3.5 season was a bittersweet one for AVF. In Alcaniz, where the championship held the third and last day of testing, the Spanish team showed a very good performance potential with both Andrea Pizzitola and Nikolay Martsenko, but the Russian’s day was ruined by a heavy crash late into Session 1, a shunt that left him unscathed but still prevented him from taking part in the afternoon test. It was a pity because until the crash, caused by a spin in Turn 1, Nikolay had been really quick, actually fast enough to finished the session as high as P8 despite missing the last run on new rubber. On the team’s other car, Andrea Pizzitola completed his learning process showing a very good progression that led him to post the 16th quickest laptime of the afternoon session. More important than his position, anyway, is the fact that at his second day on a F.Renault 3.5 car he was just 1″ shy of the quickest runner, a very promising performance. Adrian Valles – Team Principal “I’m sorry for Nikolay, he was pushing really hard to achieve a P5 position, something that was well in his reach, but he ended up with one rear wheel on the astroturf and he spun into the wall. It’s a pity because that didn’t allow us any running in the afternoon, I’m sure he could have done really well. Speaking about Andrea I’m really happy of how he performed, he has a lot of room for improvement but despite that he was just 1″ slower than the quickest guys. There’s much more to come, no doubt about that”.
