The 2012 Danish Formula Ford champion has already shown his potential at two racing weekends, scoring points at the Lausitzring at the end of August and at the season finale at Hockenheim. The 16-year old from Jaegerspris, Denmark switched from karting to Formula sports in 2012. And now he intends to score points for his team JBR Motorsport & Engineering in the 2014 ATS Formula 3 Cup. Team Principal Jörn Becker has a clear target for the 1.94m tall talent: the top 6. An additional driver will complete the team from Thuringia. Several drivers are currently completing tests for new rookies for the ATS Formula 3 Cup.

The current ATS Formula 3 Cup champion, Marvin Kirchhöfer, prepared for the start to his career in Formula sports with a test session with JBR Motorsport & Engineering in 2011. Two seasons on, the talent from Leipzig has scored two championship victories, two rookie titles, and the victory at the Deutsche Post Speed Academy among other successes. Team Principal Jörn Becker leverages his experiences from his main job in Formula 1. The 36-year old Swiss intends to score a top 6 position in the overall ranking with Nicolai Sylvest. “Having won the Formula Ford championship title, Nicolai has a good basic knowledge. In 2013 we celebrated a perfect debut in the German Formula 3 with him,” says Becker. “We are confident that we will reach our target.”

Everything is possible
Considering his height of 1.94 metres, Nicolai Sylvest is not a typical race driver. He will contest the 2014 season in a Dallara F311 with a Spiess Volkswagen engine. “A main target for 2014, which I would be happy to reach, would be a closer gap between the fastest drivers, and a dream will come true if I maybe finish a race in top 3 position,” says Sylvest. “But I think that if the team gives me a good car to drive everything is possible.” The preparation has already started. It includes both muscle training and the search for sponsors. “I think that ATS Formula 3 Cup is a great championship, and they have a professional organisation. They are always ready to improve their championship,” says a happy Sylvest. “In 2014 the ATS Formula 3 Cup will be a lot more like the FIA Formula 3 European Championship regarding the new regulation for engines, which I think is very positive.”

The 16-year old switched from karting to Formula sports in 2012 and secured the first place in the Danish Formula Ford right away. JBR Motorsport & Engineering is currently looking for a team-mate for the strong Dane for their debut in the ATS Formula 3 Cup. “The German Formula 3 is a fantastic opportunity for drivers contesting the ADAC Formel Masters and similar series for young talents who aim to prove themself worthy of higher challenges,” explains Jörn Becker. “Young drivers are able to enjoy a perfect preparation for future career steps with cars boasting high technical standards in this very professional series.”
