Ombra Racing e Mario Cordoni al via nel round monzese della GT Sprint

Cordoni 0304

After clinching the first podium result of the year in March with a deserved 3rd place finish for Stefano Gattuso and Mario Cordoni in the Paul Ricard Winter Series round, Ombra Racing are ready for the second one-off commitment of their 2014 campaign. The Italian team managed by Davide Mazzoleni will line-up a Ferrari 458 GT3 for Cordoni in this weekend’s Gt Sprint season opener in Monza, a further step in the preparatory path leading to the challenging season that lies ahead. Located Just 20 miles west of Ombra’s headquarters, Monza can be considered the team’s home track, as well as the perfect proving ground for the last “systems check” before the start of the GT Open season.
On the Italian track, where GT3 cars run in low-downforce trim and reach speeds close to the 300 kph mark, the objective for both the team and the driver will be to add some mileage to their pre-season count, test some new setup solutions and fine-tune the team’s work routines.
Immediately after the second race’s checkered flag will be waved the team will then head for Misano to hold a further day of testing on April 8.

Davide Mazzoleni (Team Manager): “Even if GT Sprint as a whole isn’t in our plans for 2014, it’s still a well organized and competitive series that we contested in the past and we still appreciate. The first event of their season in Monza provides us a with perfect opportunity to put our staff to the test in race conditions once more, and we elected to take it as we are sure it will prove useful for both us and Mario. Monza is a track he likes and where he has always been quick: being alone in the car he will have plenty of track time to make the most of, getting more miles under his belt and improving his confidence with the Ferrari”.
