World Series by Renault – I.S.R. off to a good start in Monza
The first race weekend of the World Series by Renault 2014 got underway today in Monza, and ISR immediately made the headlines, posting the third quickest time of the day with Jazeman Jaafar. Despite fielding just one car in the F.Renault 3.5 season opener the Czech team made all the right setup choices, giving Malaysian talent Jazeman Jaafar a quick and balanced car. While Monza is renowned for being the European “temple of speed”, a quick laptime on the Italian track isn’t achieved with top speed alone. Good grip is required in high speed corners like Lesmo, Ascari and Parabolica, and today ISR got the exactly right mix to allow Jaafar to show his amazing talent both in race and qualifying trim.
The team will now keep working to prepare the car for tomorrow’s Qualifying session, scheduled at 11.30 AM.

“I’m really happy with the car’s setup. In the morning we tested some different solutions to find the sweet spot between top speed, gear ratios and aero setup and I have to say that the work paid off because in the afternoon I really had an amazing car. Without traffic I could have been even quicker, but that’s not important in Free Practice. The really important thing is to know that we have the pace to be up there”.
