The sharp start of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship 2014 is scheduled for coming weekend (18th – 20th of April) for the German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin. The first three out of altogether 33 races on eleven racing weekends in eight nations will be held in Silverstone (England). The racing stable from the German capital city will be on start with an experienced trio, the Swedish vice champion of last year Felix Rosenqvist (22 years old), the Israeli Roy Nissany (19) and the Austrian Lucas Auer (19) in the Dallara Mercedes race cars. They will try to fight about the FIA Formula 3 European Championship title again this season. Team principal and racing stable owner Peter Mücke (67) tells us about his view for the upcoming season.

Mr. Mücke, the season of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship starts in Silverstone. What do you expect for your drivers and the team?
Peter Mücke: First of all, we are all happy to start into the new season finally. The championship this year will be even tougher than it was in the last years. There will be more teams and more drivers on start, which will aggravate the fight about the title. And we want to take a big part of that with our drivers. Especially Felix with his experience is a candidate for the championship title. But also Roy and Lucas will have their important role in the races. Furthermore, due to the new regulations there will be more engine manufacturers. The cards will be riffled this season.

At the test drives your drivers did really well with positions at the front of the field so far…
Peter Mücke: That’s right, but it is no evidence for success at the races. It would be non-serious to give forecasts from that. All of us will see from the first qualifying in Silverstone where we stand. And even that is only a snapshot, because there is a big power density in the field. Everything has to be perfect in each race to reach the finish line at the front of the field. Besides the good preparations, the performance of the drivers and of the cars, a little bit of luck will certainly be necessary in the end.

This year there will be one more event with three races. What does that mean to your team?
Peter Mücke: The effort got bigger for all the teams, the requirements with logistics rose, when I think of the races in Moscow. But we are well prepared for that.

The season opening in Silverstone is certainly a high point for your team…
Peter Mücke: Right. The races on this traditional track are always something special, the atmosphere is unique. And we will drive in the main schedule of the FIA World Endurance Championship. And not forget, the weather on the island always has a surprise for everyone. We only can hope that this time it will be good.

What do you wish for at the season opening?
Peter Mücke: Thrilling races without any crashes and our drivers with great performance and good positions in the end. The season is very long, after Silverstone we still have 30 races to complete…
