Gerber, Cheever III team up in No. 51 Spirit of Race Ferrari for Continental Tire Monterey G.P.
Spirit of Race will debut a new driver lineup for its No. 51 Ferrari 458 Italia at the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix on May 4, with 20-year-old Eddie Cheever III and 69-year-old Jack Gerber sharing the GT Daytona (GTD) class entry at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Gerber drove the No. 51 Ferrari in both the 2014 Rolex 24 At Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida to open both the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup. He is the oldest podium finisher in 24 Hours of Le Mans history, which he achieved last year with a third-place performance in the GTE Am category alongside co-drivers Marco Cioci and Matt Griffin in an AF Corse Ferrari. AF Corse provides technical management for Spirit of Race.

Cheever III is the son of Eddie Cheever Jr., the 1998 Indianapolis 500 winner and Formula 1 veteran with 143 career Grand Prix starts. Cheever III won both races of a EUROV8 Series doubleheader in Monza, Italy on the weekend of April 5-6 and is currently third in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. He won the 2012 Italian European F3 Championship, which led to a test in the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 car at the Italian Vallelunga Circuit.
