AVF drivers show good potential in F.Renault 3.5 practice at Motorland Aragón
It was a very windy day at the Motorland Aragón venue in Alcaniz, where teams and drivers of the Formula Renault 3.5 series approached the second round of the 2014 season. In the two Friday practices, the AVF team and their drivers showed some very good potential despite being hit by fuel pump issues. In the AM session, Swissman Zoel Amberg worked around the problem to end up into the top-10, while Dutch female racer Beitske Visser had to content with 20th.
Visser was able to improve consistently in the afternoon though, as she climbed up to the 16th spot running very close to the pack she had in front. Amberg, whose car carried-on some of the morning woes, settled for the 13th position. Overall though, both drivers can confidently look forward to tomorrow, when they will line-up for Qualifying 1 at 10:20 and for Race 1 at 14:30.
Zoel Amberg – S1 – P10; S2 – P13
“In Practice 2, it didn’t go very well, we got an issue and the engine keeps cutting off, it seems like a carry-over of this morning when we had a fuel pump problem. Also, there is a suspension issue since I was hit from behind at Monza and I can’t take all the speed that I want in the left corners, the car becomes unstable. Anyway, there is some work to do but I think we definitely have the potential to stay in the top 6 for the rest of the weekend”.
Beitske Visser – S1 – P20; S2 – P16
“In the afternoon it went much better than this morning, when we had a technical problem, and I was able to find a few more tenths of a second. Everybody is so close in terms of laptimes, but I like this track and I don’t want to set any goals for the rest of the weekend. I’m just focused in continuing to improve and to get close to the top of the pack”.
