I.S.R. Racing and driver Jazeman Jaafar took 13th place in Race 1 of the World Series Renault 3.5 weekend at Motorland Aragón in Spain. The day at the Alcaniz venue went on quite smoothly, as yesterday’s tricky windy conditions were not back and an early shower did not affect the F.Renault 3.5 drivers. The 21-year-old racer from Kuala Lumpur proved very consistent throughout the day but suffered some unexpected issues from the beginning of the race onwards. After qualifying in 11th, he delivered a good start but lost ground due to an incident that involved two of his opponents. Not too much later he also started to struggle with the wear of his rear tires, and that cost him more ground.

Jaafar and all the team are now preparing for Sunday’s action that will include the running of Qualifying 2 at 10:05 and Race 2 at 14:00. The goal is now to be back battling for the front after the good things showed in practice.

“The start has been okay but as soon as we moved away from the grid I saw Laine and Buller making contact an I got a little squeezed between them. Then the race hasn’t been bad overall but after lap three I started having some problems with the rear tires. The car was twitching under braking and that cost me quite some ground. Now we will work to resolve the issue for tomorrow and we look forward to have a smooth day of racing”.
