F.Renault 3.5 – ISR and Jaafar fly to second place in Monaco Qualifying
ISR and Jazeman Jaafar will start the Monte-Carlo F.Renault 3.5 race from second row after the third place obtained by the Malaysian talent in an hard-fought qualifying. With the pack split in two groups in order to avoid traffic jams, very likely on such a tight track, Jazeman went on track under clear skies and a warm sun with group B and started to post very quick laps straight out of the box. Keeping momentum from Thursday’s successful practice, Jaafar managed to mantain the top spot for most of the 30 minutes of running improving his laptimes lap after lap. On his penultimate flying lap, however, he was slowed down by traffic while he was improving once more, and had to abort his try, allowing fellow rivals to take a shot at pole. In the end just one car managed to be quicker than him, and as a consequence Jazeman had to settle for second, still a good starting position to aim for the win in tomorrow’s race.
Jazeman Jaafar: Q. Gr.B – P2; Grid – P2
“We had been very quick in Free Practice, so we expected to be up there in Quali too. Today’s session proved our competitiveness once again, and P2 isn’t a bad result at all. Anyway, I’m a bit disappointed because without Nato slowing me down on my quickest lap I could have easily been on pole. In the end the gap was less than a tenth, and on that flyer I was improving much more than that. Anyway P2 is still ok, we have a car with a very good setup so everything should be in place for a great show”.
