During the second Formula Acceleration 1 race at the Nürburgring, it was a full win for the Italian Team Ghinzani. Mirko Bortolotti (ITA) started from P4 and won the race, Richard Gonda (SVK) finished second and Sergio Campana (ITA) third. Nigel Melker (NL) qualified on pole position, but had troubles with his clutch in the formation lap and couldn’t start the race.. Eleven FA1s drove away when the lights went off. Campana led the field to the first corner, but lost his leading position to Gonda in the first lap. Gonda declares: “We are moving forward step by step. I had a good start and the first two laps were good. Our strategy was going well.” After the second mandatory pit stop, Bortolotti overtook Gonda and drove to the winning position. Bortolotti: “I am absolutely delighted winning the race. I want to thank my team and my team mates, because we made a one, two, three today. It’s the best possible result for the team; they have done a great job.” With four wins on his name, Bortolotti is ready for Monza (Italy), which will be the next ACCELERATION 2014 venue.

First success for Campana
Sergio Campana was unlucky during the previous races in Portugal and Spain and didn’t finish a race yet. Now he ended the third weekend of this championship on the podium: “I am happy to have finished my first race and got directly to the podium with my two team mates.”

Clutch problems
Nigel Melker had a great weekend with two pole positions and one win on Saturday, but he unfortunately couldn’t start the race today. Melker said: “When I left pit lane I noticed problems with the clutch. On the starting grid, we tried to de-aerate it, but it didn’t make a difference.” Melker was not the only one that had problems on race two. Michael Dorrbecker (MEX) had to stop the race for the same reason as Melker, Dennis Lind (DEN) because of technical problems, Armando Parente had problems with his steering-column and Oliver Campos (ESP) stopped in lap 8 because of troubles with his brakes.
