Troublefree practice day for I.S.R. and Jaafar in Spa-Francorchamps

IRS 3005

Just a few days have passed since the Monaco weekend, but for the F.Renault 3.5 paddock today was already time to get back on track. After leaving the glamorous streets of Monte-Carlo, ISR’s truck headed for Belgium to reach Spa-Francorchamps, the famed track in the heart of the Ardenne region that hosts the Belgian F1 Grand Prix since 1925. On a track that is deemed one of the most challenging venues in motorsport the Czech team enjoyed a troublefree Friday, working on the car setup and trying different solutions to find the best compromise for both Qualifying 1 and Race 1, scheduled for tomorrow at 10.25 and 15.20 respectively. A drizzle in the morning gave the technical staff the opportunity to test in hi-downforce trim, while a dry track in the afternoon meant that Jaafar could push hard in low-drag configuration. The team is now looking into today’s data to give the Malaysian talent the best possible car for tomorrow’s effort.

Jazeman Jaafar: FP1 – P13; FP2 – P13

“It was a day of hard work, but the different conditions we found in the two sessions gave us the chance to try some very different setup solutions, something that should prove useful on a track where weather is very changeable to say the least. We didn’t really go for performance today and we could have been a bit quicker if we wanted, but in that respect we need to do some setup tweaks to get rid of understeer. Once that will be solved we should be able to fight for the top spots”.
