As the World Series Renault 3.5 teams and drivers lined-up at the Nurburgring for the first qualifying session and race of Round 6 of the 2014 season, I.S.R. Racing experienced a tough run but managed to constantly improve their pace and position in Race 1. Malaysian racer Jazeman Jaafar recovered five positions and ended the day in 15th place. Once again, the German venue was hit by bad weather, but despite a foggy start, the teams didn’t lose valuable tracktime. During the race then, the rain became a factor, and in the closing stages some small sprinkes turned into an hefty downpour.

Jazeman proved very consistent as he maximized his chances by not making mistakes and keeping his nose clean throughout 24 hotly-contested laps. He took advantage of some incidents, salvaging a top-15 position, and made it to the flag despite the heavy rain on slick tires. The Formula Renault 3.5 cars will now be back on-track tomorrow for Qualifying 2 and Race 2.

“This has been a very tough run so far. At the start I had a little too much wheelspin, but then I went on to set a consistent pace. I got by three or four cars, also profiting from the incident between Mavlanov and Gasly, but I’m still struggling with the grip. Now we have more time before Race 2 and also a new set of tires for Qualifying 2 so we hope to overturn the situation and end the weekend on an high note”.
