Peter Mücke, Boss of Team Mücke Motorsport which is engaged in the  DTM (German Touring Car Masters), FIA Formula-3-European Championship and in the ADAC Formula Masters, returned from his second engagement this year as a driver with two overall runner up places. In a field of just under 40 cars at the 42nd AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix at the Nürburgring, he only had to accept defeat by  Jörg Hübner and Wolfgang Kaufmann in their Porsche 934/5 at the German Motorsports Championship 1972 – 1981 Revival in his newly reconstructed Ford „Zakspeed“ Turbo Capri.

„It was great fun to be behind the steering wheel and to fight for top placements once again. I’m happy with two class victories”, so the 67 year old. He was delighted that the 540 horsepower Turbo Capri, in which Klaus Ludwig had achieved 16 victories in the German Motorsports Championships between April 1980 and June 1982 as well as the championship title in 1981, coped well and without any difficulties. The legendary racing car had been reconstructed by his son Stefan Mücke. „The two races went very well, with my Dad even improving on speed considerably during the second“, explains the 32 year old who pilots for Aston Martin in the FIA Long Distance World Championship.

After 32 years, the Ford Capri was driven again for the first time by Peter Mücke and brought home two confident start to finish victories, with a pole position to start with, in the Histo Cup which took place in the Czech Brünn. This time round, the rainy qualifying at the Nürburgring resulted in starting position four which was imrpoved by another two places by the Berlin man. “That was just incredible, considering the two dry races and intense heat inside the car. In just the second race, I learned from the first to get the full potential out of the racer”, says Peter Mücke, who will be in action at the Nürburgring again this weekend (15th to 17th August) – this time as team manager at his team’s control centre in the DTM and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Several tests are yet to be completed prior to the weekend.

Stefan Mücke will also be on the move again on Tuesday (12th August). He will also be in action this weekend, competing in races 7 and 8 of the GT Asia Series in Sepang (Malaysia). In race six which took place in the Japanese Fuji, the Berlin man had achieved the third place with his team colleague Frank Yu of team Hongkong Bamboo AMR in their Aston Martin GT3.
