PAUL LOUP CHATIN HAS A GOOD YEAR
Paul Loup Chatin, the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT 2010”, had a difficult weekend for the final challenge of the Eurocup Championship in Formula Renault 2.0, fought out on the Barcelona track in front of 62,000 enthusiastic spectators. From the very first session of qualifiers, the young Paul Loup, whose strategy has been to leave the stands as late as possible, was only able to lap once because of two yellow flags. Result: a 36th place which doesn’t reflect his potential! The “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” did not give up in the race though and he fought his way back up to 13th place, which would nevertheless not be enough to get into the points.
On Sunday, Paul Loup Chatin had a physical problem which handicapped him to the point where he was only able to reach 15th best time in the qualifiers before climbing up to 9th in the race.
If the meeting in Barcelona was a disappointment, the season overall remains more satisfying with the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” powering up further in each race. In the ALPS Championship he stepped up on the final podium and he finishes in a good 9th place in the general ranking and first of the French in the Eurocup. For a first year in the discipline, we can say that Paul Loup Chatin achieved his objective with a positive result of 6 podiums and 3 victories in the ALPS and a podium and victory in the Eurocup.
“I’m happy with my first season, even though we all strive for more”, says Paul Loup Chatin, “I would have liked to have finished on a higher note but that’s the way it is. I want to thank the physio from the French team who got me back in shape to defend my hopes on the Barcelona track, as well as the whole TECH 1 team who did some good work throughout the season giving me a competitive car. I have to keep working on the qualifiers which are very important because even with a very fast rhythm in the race it’s difficult to reach the top 5 to score the major points. My favourite moment of the season will be, without a doubt, my first victory in Eurocup! I will now hand over to the next winner of the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” and I wish them all the best for next year.”
Indeed, the names of the semi-finalists for the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT 2011” are now known, they are Boris BOUVIER, Andréa PIZZITOLA, Jordan PERROY, Victor SENDIN, Kasper KROGH, Pierre SANCINENA, Jonas RODRIGUES, Anthony MICOUD, Simon GACHET, Clovis ROUX, Alexandre COUGNAUD, Thomas VERHEYDE and a substitute Amaury ROSSERO will all compete on the 9th and 10th November next on the La Châtre circuit.
“We’re happy at every level,” confirms Laurent Fradon, the Director of the EUROFORMULA School, “both with Paul Loup who took his role very seriously and accomplished it with skill, and with the students of the “EUROFORMULA VOLANT” whose level of performance augurs a first class winner.”
The next meeting then will be the 9th and 10th November to watch the hotly contested final, at the end of which the winner will receive a bursary of € 60,000. In these times of economic downturn, it’s good to see there are still motivated people who thrill for Motorsport, the EUROFORMULA staff are among them!
