AVF hits top-10 in rain-affected World Series Renault Hungaroring practice
AVF by Adrián Vallés faced tough weather conditions today at the Hungaroring, in the free testing day for round 7 of the 2014 World Series by Renault 3.5. The Spanish squad managed to hit the top-10 in the AM session with Swissman Zoël Amberg, although they could not express their full potential due to the limited running time on slick tires that led to heavy traffic. Also, some on-track incidents caused several red-flag conditions to complicate the action even further.
After finishing the first session in 10th, Amberg also performed well in the afternoon, showing good pace in the wet and completing a good amount of work which will prove key for the rest of the weekend. His team-mate, Dutch female racer Beitske Visser, was called to an extremely difficult job as she lined-up on at the technical Hungarian venue for the first time, having to start with torrential rain and then adapting to constantly-changing weather.
The AVF stable is now looking forward to carry-on the work done today. The first qualifying session will take place tomorrow at 10 AM and will be followed by Race 1 at 16:00 local time.

“This morning with the wet tires we had some issues, probably there was a problem with the pressures. In the afternoon the situation improved, and it’s very important because there are good chances to see more rain during the weekend. The pace overall was pretty ok, but it was difficult to see the real values: the dry part of the second session has been messy and there were many variables with traffic, the conditions quickly improving and the drivers slowing down before the finishing line to get more space for the attempts. But we did a good job and we’re looking forward to tomorrow.”

It’s been a tough day because I had never driven on this race track and starting with really wet conditions made it even more difficult. In testing 1 I couldn’t turn more than 6 flying laps and then in the second session, while trying to find the limit, I spun and made contact with the barriers. It wasn’t a very hard hit but my steering was bent so I had to sit out of the closing stages of the day”.
