FIA WEC 6 HOURS OF COTA – LONE STAR LE MANS PREVIEW

Following the long summer break after Le Mans 24 Hours, REBELLION Racing is back to race in the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship that will be held at the Circuit Of The Americas near Austin, Texas.

Last year’s race was an afternoon event, this year the organizers are laying on a race that will run into the night, starting at 5pm local time and going through to 11pm, thus adding a little spice to a promising and exciting 6 hour race.

From this race event the two Rebellion R-One Toyotas will be fitted with a new « high downforce » aero package that includes new front end bodywork and specific new headlights and an upgraded rear end to suit the requirements of the tracks in the second half of the FIA WEC season.

REBELLION Racing is confident after their glorious campaign at Le Mans 24 Hours last June, where they finished in 4th place overall, leaving the two factory Porsche 919 Hybrid cars behind them.
The Swiss team will try to get another strong result in Texas, as close as possible to the podium as the team secured a 4th place overall finish last year during the first edition of the 6 Hours of COTA.

REBELLION Racing is looking forward to meet the competition of the Lotus team which will make their race debut in LMP1-L this year at COTA. This competition will provide an extra incentive to the whole team but will not divert them from their main goal that is making the cars as competitive as possible to target the highest positions overall and not only within the LMP1-L cars.

The driver line up remain unchanged as Nick Heidfeld, Nicolas Prost and Mathias Beche will share driving duties in the Rebellion R-One Toyota #12 and Andrea Belicchi, Fabio Leimer and Dominik Kraihamer in the sister car #13.

Bart Hayden – REBELLION Racing Team manager :
“It’s been a long break since the last race at Le Mans, but we have used the time to prepare for the second half of the season. When the new Rebellion R-One cars first hit the track, they were in a configuration best suited to the demands of Le Mans, but now for the sprint races we need a little more downforce, so we’ve got an update and are looking forward to seeing how that works. It’s nice to be back in the USA, REBELLION Racing has achieved some very good results racing in the USA, so we will be aiming high and are looking forward to getting out on track. The addition of the Lotus car to the LMP1-L pack is very welcome, we hope that we can have a good race with them.”
