AVF has improving day in Circuit Paul Ricard practice
After the rain that soaked teams and drivers in Budapest, the World Series Renault 3.5 runners were welcomed by sunny skies and warm temperatures in Le Castellet, where they lined-up the 8th and penultimate round of 2014. The AVF by Adrián Vallés team had an up-and down day at the French venue, but hopes to rebound on Saturday for qualifying and Race 1.
Dutch female racer Beitske Visser was called to a learning experience as she made her first steps with the F.Renault 3.5 Dallara at Paul Ricard. As a result, she ended up twice in 20th place but she’s already analyzing the data in order to deliver a strong improvement tomorrow.
Swissman Zoël Amberg faced a troubled run in the morning with only a few laps completed, but he started overturning the situation in the afternoon, taking the 15th place despite being slowed down by the incoming traffic during his fastest flying lap.
The AVF stable is aiming to show their full potential tomorrow: qualifying 1 will be on at 9:40 AM, followed by race 1 at 13:00 PM.
Zoël Amberg – FP1: P21 – FP2: P15
“We struggled a bit in the morning but I think we can be ok. In the end the car was good on older tires and also on new rubber there is some good potential. Unfortunately, while running on the new tires in the afternoon I was slowed down by one of the cars I had in front, but I’m looking forward to qualifying and race 1”.
Beitske Visser – FP1: P20 – FP2: P20
“This track is very difficult to learn, but I’m ok in the first two sectors. In the third one, there is one corner that must be approached in a completely different way than with the Formula Renault 2.0 car, and I still haven’t got it figured out. I’m studying it with the engineers so I’m looking forward to get it right tomorrow”.
