Although another sunny day greeted teams, fans and drivers on-track, Race 1 of the World Series Renault 3.5 championship brought some terrible luck to I.S.R. Racing today at Circuit Paul Ricard. After settling for the 9th position in qualifying 1, Malaysian Jazeman Jaafar was forced to stop and retire just a few hundred meters away from the start after a spin.
For the whole team, there was nothing else to do than wait for the car to be recovered and get back working hard for tomorrow. Qualifying 2 will go underway early at 9:00 AM and will be followed by Race 1 at 13:00 PM.

Jazeman Jaafar – Q1: P9 – R2: DNF

“It was a chaotic situation. We entered the corner four wide and I lost control, I don’t know if somebody hit me or not, but it is definitely a pity because we were sure we had the speed to get some positions back. In qualifying we actually did a good job. The leading pack managed to get a few more tenths of a second but we weren’t far at all, so we look forward to get a little more lucky tomorrow…”.
