Hassid to Join Marc VDS at Estoril
BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS have completed their line up for the European Le Mans Series round at Estoril. French driver Henry Hassid will join regular drivers Bas Leinders and Markus Palttala.
The team are making their return to Le Mans racing at the ELMS’ final round in Portugal, in the GTC class. Driver regulations in the class mean that the team needed a bronze rated pilot, and Hassid is a perfect fit. He has been driving for several years in the Blancpain Endurance Series, securing good results in 2014 with the BMW Z4 GT3. With his knowledge of the car and his experience, he was the best choice for the seat.
The four hour enduro takes place on October 18-19.
Bas Leinders, Team Principal
“I’m very excited to welcome a new driver to the team. Henry has a huge amount of experience and has shown real quality in his driving with the BMW Z4 GT3. It’s going to be a fun experience, taking on the ELMS, because it’s a strong field and a totally different challenge to our recent racing.”
Henry Hassid, #87 BMW Z4 GT3
“I’m very pleased to be back in the ELMS at Estoril. I know the BMW Z4 GT3 really well, and I’m excited to race with Marc VDS. They’ve proved to be a very professional team over the last few years and we hope to battle with the Ferrari – so far they’ve been unbeatable in the series. Estoril is a nice track, and should suit the BMW Z4 GT3, so the package looks very good. I’ve raced here before and there’s always a great atmosphere.”
