It’s been a day to remember for the AVF by Adrián Vallés team at Jerez, in race 1 for the final round of the 2014 World Series Renault 3.5. The Spanish squad lined-up in phenomenal weather at their home track and the result repaid their efforts with a stunning fifth place and a rookie podium.

Dutch female racer Beitske Visser continued in her impressive 2014 form at one of her favourite venues. After starting from the 12th place on the grid following to a solid qualifying effort, the 19-year-old rookie delivered a sensational start moving up to 6th place straight away. Then, she gained one more spot to 5th and successfully defended herself from the attacks of Pierre Gasly in order to step for the first time on the rookie podium.

Her results showcased once again the speed capabilities of the AVF racecars, although Zoel Amberg wasn’t less impressive by any means. The Swissman got stuck behind traffic in qualifying and was forced to content with the 19th position. During the race, he regained one position and took advantage from the racing incidents to record a 12th place. Unfortunately the lack passing opportunities deprived him of the chance to recover further.

Zoel and Beitske will be back on-track tomorrow at 9:30 for qualifying 2, before lining-up for the final race of the year at 13:50.

Beitske Visser – Q1: P12 – R1: P5 (P3 rookies)

“It was an amazing race, really, amazing. The start was great and I was able to gain many positions, making my way through the contacts to 6th. Then another car had a problem and I climbed up to the top-5. I stayed there for the whole race. Gasly tried to attack me twice but both times I managed to keep him at bay, so I ended up 5th and got my first rookie podium. I’m definitely really happy… but now I want more!”.
Zoel Amberg – Q1: P19 – R1: P12

“In qualifying i was slowed down a lot by traffic, and lost the chance to make a real difference. In the race then it was impossible to recover much despite we had a very good pace, also because of a little clutch issue at the start. In addition to that, here at Jerez when you catch the car you have in front, your aero gets quite disrupted and that means it’s really difficult to overtake. I was behind Mavlanov but every time I got close, I just couldn’t make a pass for this reason. Anyway, in terms of pace we have been very fast as proved also by Beitske, and I hope tomorrow will bring us the results we deserve”.
