Lining-up for the final race of the 2014 World Series by Renault season, I.S.R. Racing was once again hit by bad luck at Jerez de la Frontera, and the weekend ended with a DNF for 21-year-old racer Jazeman Jaafar. As happened yesterday, the Malaysian was slowed down by traffic in qualifying and had to content with 17th place despite some quick intermediate times.

In race 2, he began with the right foot, experiencing a very positive start and recovering three positions straight away. Unfortunately, his day took a negative turn not too much later. Jazeman, who was set to slot to 11th place after the pit-stops, was assessed a drive-through penalty for speeding in pit-lane. Then, when the outcome of the race had already been jeopardized, a racing incident brought his day to an early end.

I.S.R. Racing is now set to stay in Jerez to begin the offseason preparations at the Andalusian venue.

Jazeman Jaafar – Q2: P17 – R2: DNF

“We had a strong start, I passed two cars straight away, and then got by another one on the outside during the first lap. Before pitting, we were in 12th and with the good stop we had we would have climbed up to 11th. Unfortunately, I was given a speeding penalty, and rejoined in 15th. Then, while fighting with Stevens, we made contact and ended up in the gravel trap. It’s been a typical race incident”.
