The biggest win for the German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport
It’s done: The German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin scored their so far biggest success in Formula 3 history on Sunday (16th of November) at the 61st „Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix“ in China. The Swede Felix Rosenqvist and the Austrian Lucas Auer, who already had their double success at the qualifying on Friday (14th of November) and at the Qualification Race on Saturday (15th of November), didn’t miss out on anything at the Grand Prix run and finished first and second. Their Colombian team colleague Tatiana Calderon (all Dallara Mercedes), only woman in the field of the 30 best Formula 3 drivers of the world, finished 13th at her debut race at the 6.12 km long city course in the former Portuguese colony.
„More is not possible. We scored our so far biggest achievement since the foundation of our team in 1988 with the double success of Felix and Lucas at the Grand Prix in Macau. And Tatiana did a great job as well as a rookie driver“, Peter Mücke said, the team principal and owner of the racing stable from the German capital city. „Our domination on each of the three days has even been impressing to me and I wasn’t expecting this. A real big „Thank you“ for this spectacular performance in Macau belongs to our drivers and all the other team members like the helping hands, the mechanics and the racing engineers.“ And same time this certainly is a great early gift for the 68th birthday of Peter Mücke on Friday (21st of November).
The race on Sunday started with a crash right at the first lap and an interruption of about half an hour. The cars of Mücke Motorsport at the front of the field were not damaged due to that, but the race car of Tatiana Calderon got hit. But she was able to continue the race. Rosenqvist and Auer took the lead again right after the restart, Auer lost his second position at the third lap. „That happened because the following car used the slipstream to overtake him, but then Lucas reclaimed his second place“, Peter Mücke said. Tatiana Calderon has been in the top ten after the restart on position ten, but lost three positions again later. „That was due to the slightly damaged car. But it doesn’t narrow her excellent performance at all“, the team principal said.
When the pilots Felix Rosenqvist (already second in Macau with Mücke Motorsport in 2012) and Lucas Auer crossed the finish line as winner and second, the jubilation of the whole team was just boundless. And after the official appointments with award ceremony and press conference the schedule was free for celebrations. „That night probably nobody of the team will find sleep. It’s party time. And in Macau there are a lot of opportunities to do that“, Peter Mücke said. That is what the Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport had on schedule after the so far biggest success far from home. No surprise after the victory at the fourth participation of the racing stable from Berlin that already scored one second and two fourth positions at the Macau Grand Prix.
