Celis joins AVF for 2015 World Series Renault 3.5 season
The AVF by Adrián Vallés team is delighted to announce the agreement reached with Alfonso Celis for the 2015 World Series Renault 3.5 season. Born in Mexico City, Celis will join the Catalan starting from the upcoming preseason test scheduled for March 5th and 6th at Jerez. He will partner the already-confirmed Duch female racer Beitske Visser. Celis already knows the championship’s Zytek-powered Dallara car. The Mexican youngster, who turned 18 on the last 18th of September, made his series debut last year at the Nurburgring with a different team. He started his single seater career in 2013, when he entered the F.Renault 2.0 NEC championship and also made spot appearances in the British F.3 series and in the FIA F.3 European Championship. In 2014, he was among the GP3 Series frontrunners, and he will also return to GP3 for the 2015 season in a double full-time commitment.
Adrian Valles
“I’m delighted to welcome a promising young driver like Alfonso in our line-up. He is one of the best prospects from Mexico, and we already have an option on him for 2016. We showed how effectively we can develop the skills of young drivers approaching the Renault 3.5 series. We already knew Celis from a test we had with him with the Renault 2.0 car at the beginning of his career, but now he has also matured a considerable experience in GP3 and in Formula 3. I’m convinced we will be able to achieve the goals we have set for this season”.
Alfonso Celis
“I couldn’t hope for a better start of the season. Entering the highly-competitive Renault 3.5 championship with AVF by Adrián Vallés is the best possible solution I could ever find. I thank all the people who made this deal possible and I can’t wait to start the seasonm which will feature a double program also including the GP3 Series”.
