24H SERIES powered by Hankook in full swing, entries for Dubai 2016 now open

With the next round, the Hankook 12H ITALY-MUGELLO (13-14 March, 2015) coming up, the 2015 24H SERIES powered by Hankook are running in full swing. Meanwhile, preparations for the 2016 season are already underway. “We have set the date for next year’s opening round, the Hankook 24H DUBAI, which will be held from 14 till 16 January, 2016. Entries for the event are open as well,” says Gerrie Willems on behalf of CREVENTIC. The Dutch agency is the promoter and organiser of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook, in co-operation with the Dutch National Racing Team (DNRT).

This year’s race marked the tenth anniversary of the Hankook 24H DUBAI, the original endurance race in the Gulf region. The event was a great success with a record starting grid. Over 50 different nationalities were represented in the field, clearly reflecting the international status of the event. “It was a true motorsport festival, a great success,” Gerrie Willems says. “Thanks to the proven class structure, we had good competition in all classes throughout the race. We were also happy to see the balance between GTs and touring cars. With an increase from eight cars in 2014 to 19 cars for this year’s race, the A2 touring car class proved to be considerably more popular than before. There was growth in the Porsche Cup cars class as well, with eleven cars in 2014 and 18 cars this year. These developments are very pleasant.”

Service for teams and friendly atmosphere maintained

The race in Dubai also saw the successful introduction of the CUP1 class for BMW M 235i Cup cars, with six cars on the grid. “Now, the challenge for us will be to attract more teams with diesel-powered cars as well,” Gerrie Willems continues. “There used to be many of them in the past, but the number of diesel cars has gone down a bit, so we would like to see more of these cars again, too. Another important factor is, notwithstanding the increasing popularity and the growth of our events and grid numbers, to maintain our focus on service for the teams and the friendly atmosphere that has become characteristic for our races. We will continue to work on that.”

As the first international endurance race of the new calendar year, this year’s Hankook 24H DUBAI received extensive coverage from online and print media from all over the world. A 52 minutes’ highlight show will be broadcast on Motors TV from 1 March. A detailed broadcast schedule can be found at www.24hseries.com.

Entry fee remains unchanged

“Based on the success of this year’s race, we again expect plenty of interest for the race in Dubai in 2016,” Gerrie Willems continues. “The first entries have already been submitted. The good news is that the entry fee will remain unchanged compared to this year’s race. Once again, we plan to have a live stream throughout the 24 hours and we also expect to have the Radio Show Limited commentary team, well-known from Radio Le Mans and other endurance events, on board again.” More information about the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook can be found at: www.24hseries.com.
