Academy Motorsport Partners with Aston Martin Racing for GT4 Assault

Top British sportscar squad Academy Motorsport will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year by entering into an exciting partnership with Aston Martin Racing.

Led by team principal and successful sportscar and historic racer Matt Nicoll-Jones, the squad will field a two-car attack on this year’s British GT Championship in Aston Martin Vantage GT4 machinery.

The team will field its #61 Vantage pairing of Will Moore and Dennis Strandberg, with the #62 car raced by Chris Webster and James Harrison.

Strandberg starred in last year’s Ginetta GT5 Challenge, alongside the British GT Championship. He finished third in the points after a tense final weekend of the year. His season included a magnificent triple victory at the overseas round at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Moore and Webster developed their racing skills in last year’s Ginetta GT5 Challenge, while professional driver coach Harrison clinched the 2006 Ginetta Junior Championship.

The team also plans to compete in the Aston Martin Festival of Le Mans, the
new Nova Euro Series for GT4-spec cars, and end of season endurance events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

“This is a great way of celebrating the team’s 10th anniversary,” Nicoll-Jones said. “We’ve followed the progression of the Vantage GT4 closely and feel it offers the ideal platform as we enter our second decade of top level competition.

“The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 offers a superb multi-discipline race car with unparalleled support from AMR. It really is a strong all-round car, capable of both sprint and endurance competition. It’s the perfect tool for the job. Testing starts in earnest with AMR at its official test day in Monteblanco in Spain on March 7-8th.”

AMR’s customer programmes manager Andrew Williamson added: “AMR is very happy to welcome a team as experienced as Academy Motorsport as a partner in GT4. We are looking forward to seeing their performance in British GT this year, and growing the relationship in 2015 and beyond.”

The team has a single car available throughout the Monteblanco test. Anybody wishing to take part, should contact Matt Nicoll-Jones (details below).
