The teams and drivers of the World Series Renault 3.5 made it back on-track today at Jerez de la Frontera, and as well as the rivals, AVF by Adrián Vallés ran with their two Dallara racecars in low downforce configuration as prescribed by the rules for Day 2.

With an aerodynamic package that didn’t suit the Spanish circuit in the best possible way, all the teams had their pace reduced compared to yesterday. Once again though, Dutch female racer Beitske Visser performed without an hitch, cruising to the top-5 again during the morning session. In the afternoon, the team elected to save one set of new tires for each car to be used in the next preseason test at Motorland Aragón, so she was forced to content with 13th despite the great job done.

Mexican Alfonso Celis Jr. continued to positively impress the team too despite the tricky conditions. He took 16th place in the morning before settling for 19th in the afternoon, working well without any mistake. AVF is now looking forward to be back on-track at the end of the month, on March 30th and 31st, for the second round of collective testing in Alcaniz.

Alfonso Celis Jr. (#15)

“I didn’t like the car’s feel with the low downforce package. It was difficult to drive and sometimes even dangerous because you could lose control pretty easily. I tried to take the good out of the situation by not making mistakes. In the afternoon we experienced a transponder issue, so we decided to stop. We also saved one additional set of new tires for Alcaniz”.

Beitske Visser (#16)

“Physically I didn’t feel that much better compared to yesterday after the food poisoning, but that didn’t prevent me from scoring some good results. I was pretty quick with the set of new tires this morning, ending up in 4th place. Then in the afternoon we spared the other new set so the charts aren’t really meaningful and we’re sure we could have been equally competitive in the PM session. The goal is now to keep working in the right direction in Alcaniz”.
