Zeta Corse completes positive Jerez test
Zeta Corse completed the first preseason test of the 2015 World Series Renault 3.5 at Jerez de la Frontera today, and for the team it was a positive run as they managed to make their way to the top-10. In day 2, all the teams were mandated to line-up with the low-downforce car configuration which will be used in Practice 2, Qualifying 1 and Race 1 of every championship weekend.
The team logged a lot of laps with the low downforce configuration, collecting valuable data in an effort to adapt the set-up to the required layout. In the end, Venezuelan Johnny Cecotto took 8th place, while after yesterday’s car issues were solved completely, Facu Regalia scored the 11th place in the morning.
Zeta Corse will now be back on-track at the end of the month in the second round of collective testing, scheduled for March 30th and 31st at Motorland Aragón.
Roman Novikov – Team Manager
“We had already fixed the issues suffered in day 1 last evening, and is was good to see that everything was fine today. I think we worked in the right direction, with two drivers who were experiencing this car for the first time. Cecotto is coming from GP2, with different tyres, and the same goes for Facu, who was also forced to stop last summer. I’m confident he will make big steps forward in Alcaniz”.
Facu Regalia
“It was a strange day with the low-downforce configuration. We adapted the car to the mandatory set-up and practiced a lot. We had some problems on the front, and also with traction, but it was just the first time on this configuration so the feeling with the car couldn’t be as good as it was yesterday”.
Facu Regalia (#7)
Session 1 – 1’30”107 – 38 laps – P11
Session 2 – 1’30”840 – 30 laps – P17
Johnny Cecotto (#8)
Session 1 – 1’29”601 – 37 laps – P8
Session 2 – 1’30”705 – 25 laps – P16
