Academy Prepares for European GT4 Assault
Top British sportscar squad Academy Motorsport’s plans for an assault on European GT4 racing continue to build as it prepares for two huge weekends in Le Mans and Slovakia next month.
The Pershore-based team, which is a partner squad of Aston Martin Racing, is still reeling from its fantastic success at the second round of the British GT Championship at Rockingham earlier this month, in which it finished second in the two-hour endurance round.
Academy is now looking forward to the season’s blue riband weekend at the Aston Martin Festival of Le Mans on June 13th, followed by the second round of the Euro Series by Nova Race at the Slovakiaring on June 21st.
This Festival of Le Mans race will contain up to 60 Aston Martin racing cars from the last 11 years, as a support to the famous 24-hour endurance competition. The race will take place on the Saturday morning ahead of the main race.
The Euro Series by Nova Race, a brand new championship for GT4 machinery, will also compete at well-known circuits around Europe, including those on the Formula 1 calendar. These include the Red Bull Ring in Austria, and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
Academy Motorsport is now eager to speak with drivers who would like to compete in the Euro Series by Nova Race for the remainder of the season, as well having the unique opportunity to race at the Aston Martin Festival of Le Mans, in the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 car.
Team boss Matt Nicoll-Jones said: “The team has tested the water at the Euro Series by Nova Race opening round, and we found it to be extremely good. The organisers are awesome and it’s a nice, relaxing weekend of good fun as well as great hospitality but it’s also very competitive.
“The GT4 grid for the Aston Martin Festival of Le Mans race looks very competitive. It’s one of the biggest races on the calendar and it’s on a weekend which any driver would like to race at, as part of the support to the Le Mans 24 Hours.
“The team has very limited seats available for the rest of the Euro Series by Nova Race season as well as for Le Mans, and we would welcome drivers to come forward and race in a formidable car, alongside great support from Aston Martin Racing.”
