The Monaco round of the Formula Renault 3.5 series didn’t end up as Adrián Vallés and his team expected, as both Alfonso Celis and Beitske Visser had to retire today. Both were involved in a contact at the first corner after the start. Celis continued, but shortly after, at the swimming pool complex, he hit the barrier because of the damaged suspension and had to retire. Dutch female racer Visser, who also had a damaged rear suspension, had recovered to the tenth position, but with four laps from the finish she had to surrender when she lost a tire at the entrance of the tunnel.
Alfonso Celis (#15): Race – DNF

“I am frustrated with the outcome of the race. In the first corner I think I have hit protections, I carried on anyway, but something was wrong and when I got to the swimming pool chicane, pushing hard to catch up, I hit the barries. I’m sorry and I’ll learn from my mistakes not to repeat them in the future. ”
Beitske Visser 8#16): Race – DNF

“I immediately had a problem with the rear suspension involved in contact at the first corner at the start. The car was difficult to drive, but I still recovered the tenth place, then I lost a tyre and I could not do anything else but retiring. Too bad because we were nearly at the end”.
