AVF takes top-10 finish with Visser at Spielberg
The fifth round of the World Series Renault 3.5 championship ended up with a 10th place in race 2 for Beitske Visser and AVF by Adrián Vallés at the Austrian Red Bull Ring venue. After ending up 12th in the opening run, the Dutch female racer fought hard to gain the points zone, winning several battles and delivering some great passing action. Her team-mate Alfonso Celis was much less lucky. The Mexican was involved in a first-lap contact initiated by other drivers in race 1, while in the second one, starting from the fourth row of the grid, some front wing issues forced the mechanics to stay on the grid for more time than allowed by the rules. That cost Celis a penalty meaning he had to start from the pit-lane. The World Series Renault will now be off to a summer break and will be back on-track on the September 6 weekend at Silverstone. The closing stint of the season will also include the Nurburgring, Le Mans and Jerez.
Adrián Vallés – Team Manager
“Due to several different circumstances, we have not been able to show our real potential at Red Bull Ring. Celis was very unlucky and I really feel for him, while Visser showed she can easily stay into the points zone. She only has to be more self confident, and then the results, as happened in race 2, will come”.
