AVF nears points finish at Silverstone

It’s been an unlucky day for AVF at Silverstone. Lining up for Saturday’s qualifying 1 and race 1, Adrián Vallés and his squad were unable to capture a points finish which would have been deserved given the potential showed by Alfonso Celis Jr. and Beitske Visser. In qualifying, an electrical issue stopped the Mexican, while the Dutch female racer didn’t capitalize from her last flying lap. During the race, Alfonso was stopped by the same problem experienced earlier, while a contact punctured Beitske’s right rear tire, forcing her to retire.

Alfonso Celis (#15) Qualifying 1: P16 1’45”545 – Race 1: P13 + 1 lap

“We keep suffering from an issue that Renault ignores. After what happened in Austria, I couldn’t complete qualifying and the same happened during the race costing me valuable championship points. It’s really frustrating because it’s something that is independent from me or the team and we can’t get them to listen”.

Beitske Visser (#16) Qualifying 1: P13 1’43”104 – Race 1: DNF

“Qualifying didn’t go well because I haven’t been able to use my full potential during my last flyier, while with a damp track at the start of the session we had proved really competitive. During the race we had a good pace overall, I was regaining some ground but after passing two cars in the same corner I was touched. That punctured my rear tire and forced me to stop for good”.

Saturday: Qualifying 1 9:00 – Race 1 12:30

Sunday: Qualifying 2 9:00 – Race 2 12:30
