The Barcelona-born driver took SPX class win at his home race and finished 6th overall with Leipert Motorsport-entered Lamborghini Huracan shared with Eskelinen, Gitlin, Pedersen and Leipert. Tutumlu, besides ranking first among Spanish and Catalan participants, becomes the first ever Kurdish driver to win a 24-hour race.

The weekend ended physically exhausted but extremely happy for Isaac Tutumlu. The 24 hours of Barcelona were another major achievement for Tutumlu, who teamed up with Mikko Eskelinen, Vadim Gitlin, Ulrik Roland Pedersen and Marcel Leipert. Starting from the back of the grid, as a result of their Lamborghini Huracan engine problems on Friday – they weren´t able to set a single lap time in qualifying-, Leipert Motorsport and its five drivers made strenuous efforts during 24 hours to race their way into the top 10.

Despite that final result achieved, the 24-hour event wasn´t carried out without problems, mainly with power steering and rear uprights issues, which almost forced them to retire with one hour to go. Finally, Tutumlu and his teammates crossed the finish line in sixth place overall and first in SPX class. Also worth mentioning that Tutumlu delivered a brilliant performance at night lapping faster than anyone else on track – including GT3 cars- during his stints.

“I´m very pleased to win our SPX class, in addition finishing 6th overall. At the beginning it seemed still to be a far distant objective starting from 73th on the grid. We had to cope with several problems, and sometimes we thought they were terminal. Our end of race was certainly stressful. Fortunately we all worked pretty well together to overcome whatever difficulties. Lamborghini, Leipert Motorsport, my teammates,… everyone. Thank you very much. Everyone played an important role during the race”, Tutumlu explained, underlining that “I wish to thank everybody who has supported me, my family, my friends, fans, etc. I feel at home with the Lamborghini Huracan. At night, I set a best lap of 1:52.8 at night, in traffic. Now I already focus on our next Lamborghini Super Trofeo commitment at Nürburgring, in two weeks´ time”.
