AVF takes another rookie win at the Nürburgring

AVF by Adrián Vallés and Harrison Scott captured another rookie win in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 round held at the famed Nürburgring racetrack this weekend. After grabbing an overall podium finish in the previous round at Silverstone, the British racer cruised to a brilliant victory and to a 10th place overall in race 2. Scott started from the 9th row of the grid and fought his way through the field in heavy rain, showcasing his speed skills and the performance of the car prepared by Adrián Vallés and his staff. Due to the treacherous weather conditions, the stewards opted for a safety-car start, giving the drivers a better comfort zone at the beginning of their runs. In Germany, Scott was paired by Portuguese Henrique Chaves and Czech Josef Zaruba, who took round 7 of the Eurocup series as a preparation for the upcoming Formula Renault 2.0 NEC round at the Nürburgring.

Harrison Scott (#27) Race 1: P25 +21”848 – Race 2: P10 +23”190

“I arrived at the Nurburgring having never tested here before and knowing that it is a very technical track. It was always going to be tough on Saturday as I carried a grid penalty from Silverstone and would start race one from the back wherever I qualified. I used the track time in race one to familiarise myself and was able to make up 10 places while taking no risks to bring the car home. I put a good lap together in qualifying for race two this morning and was very happy with P6 in group, only a tenth of a second off the top three. It started to rain quite heavily 30 minutes before the race and we went out on wets from P11. I was able to make up a place in the first two laps and was running in 9th at one point. Our goal was to finish in the points, so I focussed on maintaining position in the tricky conditions. To finish in provisional P10 and as Top Rookie again is great; it’s the boost the team needed and keeps me in the top ten in the Championship”.

Josef Zaruba (#28) Race 1: DNS – Race 2: P27 +54”244

“We took this weekend as a test for the upcoming NEC round. The first qualifying session went well, and I clearly felt that I had the potential needed to keep improving consistently. In race 1 I was unable to make it to the grid due to a sensor issue, while Sunday’s run was jeopardized by the really heavy rain which made the driving conditions incredibly tricky. The team worked remarkably well as usual, and having Adrian helping me out in first person has been extremely valuable too”.

Henrique Chaves (#42) Race 1: P31 +2 laps – Race 2: P30 +1’03”887

“Together with AVF we decided to enter the Eurocup round as a preparation for the upcoming NEC round scheduled at this track next weekend. In Sunday’s qualifying I grabbed a positive 11th place in my group, even though during the race the heavy rain made car control really difficult. I also had a couple of moments along the way. However, this weekend has been a perfect training opportunity and I’m sure we’re going to collect the dividends for the hard work done”.

The next round for the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 will be on September 26th and 27th at Le Mans
