AVF scores double top-10 in Jerez test
A new era for motorsport started today at Jerez De La Frontera. Just hours after the end of the 2015 Formula Renault 3.5 season, the brand-new Formula 3.5 V8 kicked-off at the southern Spanish track with the AVF team as a proud runner and supporter. Adrián Vallés and his crew were rejoined by Alfonso Celis Jr, a regular for them throughout 2015. Lining-up alongside him today and tomorrow is Marvin Kirchhofer. Although he is a new face at AVF, the German racer was somehow at home as he was a team-mate of Celis in the GP3 Series. With much better weather conditions than in the race weekend, with sunny skies setting the tone after a damp start, Alfonso set the eight fastest lap of the AM session, while Kirchhofer rounded out the top-5 in the afternoon.
Alfonso Celis Jr. (#15) AM Session: P8 1’29”419 – 27 laps – PM Session: P10 1’29”561 – 24
“It’s been a really productive day, we tried many solutions that the engineers had been preparing for a while, so we took full advantage of this day to make a step forward. I didn’t put my best potential lap together because I faced a little bit of traffic in the last corner, but in the end it doesn’t matter, the potential is good. I’m really happy that Marvin tested with us. He did a great job and I’m delighted for the work done by the whole team”.
Marvin Kirchhofer (#16) AM Session: P13 1’30”314 – 42 laps – PM Session: P5 1’28”440 – 27
“I had to merge with the car a bit at the beginning because there is a lot of difference between a Formula 3.5 V8 and a GP3, really a lot. I think it went well, we did a lot of work on the car and I improved greatly, also in terms of driving style and performance and this definitely helped. It’s been a good day”.
Testing in Jerez will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21st.
