Alfonso Celis Jr. extends relationship with AVF for 2016
AVF and Team Principal Adrián Vallés are delighted to announce the extension of their agreement with Alfonso Celis Jr. for the 2016 Formula 3.5 V8 season. The 19-year-old Mexican lined-up for a full season with the Spanish squad in 2015 as he made his debut in the Formula Renault 3.5 championship, scoring the 16th place in standings with 17 points. Celis also ended up seventh among rookies and cruised to a fourth place in race 2 at the Nurburgring as his best result of the season. In Germany, he barely missed an overall podium finish and made it to the rookie podium. AVF and Alfonso Celis Jr. will be back on-track for the next round of collective testing scheduled between November 4th and 6th at Alcaniz.
Adrian Valles, Team Principal
“I’m delighted to have Alfonso with us again for the 2016 season. In addition to the fact that he is a great driver, he showed he is a phenomenal guy. He perfectly integrated with the team and everybody works with him really well. We are also proud to be the first team to sign a driver for the new Formula 3.5 V8 championship, a series where we hope to be among the leading contenders next year”.
Alfonso Celis Jr.
“AVF has been like a family for me this season. I really merged well with the team and the car has been one the best I’ve driven in my whole career. As I’m set for my second year in the championship, staying with Adrian felt like a logical and natural choice as he really helped me a lot growing up as a driver. In the upcoming session at Alcaniz we will test several different solutions in order to be ready for the 2016 season”.
